About Us

Brett Harms
Research & Development Engineer
Brett has enjoyed machines since he was young. He often built ideas that came to mind. His years working on a farm gave him the opportunity to expand his interest further. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, he worked at an industrial company as a research & development engineer collaborating with OEM customers to design, validate, and implement rubber conveyor belt components for agricultural and industrial equipment. After 11 years, Brett left that company and formed MSI. His background includes hands-on experience in designing and building equipment and tools from conception to production launch.
Services

Creating innovative solutions often starts with exploring multiple ideas to determine the possibilities and to refine concepts. With more than 10 years of research and development experience helping customers discover new opportunities, Mid-States Innovation is ready to help your company achieve its goals.

Once a new idea is imagined, it may be necessary to build a prototype to bring greater clarity in the validation process. Both rapid and advanced prototypes can be created, hand built from scratch and tailored to best fit the customer’s needs.

After the concept is identified, full design work can follow. Design work includes CAD modeling, calculations, and creative integration to achieve the necessary requirements.

Once the machine is designed, the parts can be produced and assembled into the final machine. Often a machine must be adjusted and fine-tuned to operate smoothly. Whether the expectation is a stand-alone machine or a solution that can be integrated into an existing system, the customer’s end goal is kept in mind.
